Erik served from 2001 to 2008 in the US Army, making rank quickly he became a Sgt. before leaving his career as a soldier in the Airborne division as well as a mechanic. His valor for his country brought him to numerous tours in Iraq. He dedicated his life to his/our country and for the freedom for us all. Erik was awarded the highest medal of honor from the Army and received numerous medals during his military career. He was a hero to his best friend that he lost in combat and to whom he carried 4 miles out of a conflict on one of his tours. The ultimate sacrifice ... Erik indeed will be forever a hero. He was a humble soldier.
On November 21, 2008, Erik welcomed his pride and joy into the world his first and only son Erick aka "Lil Man". Erick was his pride and joy, and it showed. He was the best dad anyone could have asked for, and most could only wish for.
In addition, He was well respected by those he worked with and was on his way to a wonderful career at The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
Erick left this world too soon on September 10, 2013, the day we are supposed to raise awareness about Suicide.
